The project is for a residential property and Rockwood found us when looking for screeding contractors Guildford. Previously prepared block and beam substrate is already present, with thermal insulation on. We needed to reduce program time, so we opted for a fast drying screed.

Keracem Eco

The most suitable fast drying screed we used for this project is Keracem Eco. Keracem Eco are recyclable mineral inert material, avoiding waste disposal costs and environmental impact. It must be mixed with water and inert materials using tilting mixers, mobile concrete mixers, pressure or screw mixers following the correct mixing ratio.

The screed was mixed using a Putzmeister M760 with skip and scraper to ensure reduced labour effort while mixing. The fast drying screed mixture has several benefits and can:

  • Light foot traffic – 24 hours
  • Lay Ceramics – after 24 hours
  • Turn underfloor heating – after 3 days
  • Lay resilient and woods – after 5 days

In the mixture, we used Adfil Fibrin 660F as construction fibre to reduce plastic shrinkage and plastic settlement cracking.

Process

  1. 1/2 sand is placed in the vessel
  2. Keracem Eco is added
  3. Water and construction fibres are added to the mixture
  4. The remaining 1/2 of the sand is added in
  5. The batch is mixed using a Putzmeister M760
  6. Screed is pumped to the exact location where it is needed
  7. Screed is laid by the installers to the provided datums
